Welcome to the Online Shop
PHILOSOPHY
At the heart of this shop is a simple idea: sharing. Here, content is more than just sold - it’s shared, developed, and made available to the musical community. Every project by Božo Paradžik is supported through this shop. When you purchase a PDF today, you receive a carefully crafted product instantly - and become part of a creative cycle: you support, enable, and benefit. Your contribution helps fund new projects, from renting concert halls and pianos to acquiring essential technical equipment. This ongoing support makes new professional-quality recordings possible, which you can enjoy shortly afterward, for example on Božo Paradžik’s YouTube channel.
SUPPORT CREATIVITY WITH YOUR PURCHASE
Every purchase directly fuels Božo Paradžik’s artistic work. Revenue from this shop makes video and audio recordings, new sheet music editions, and other projects possible. In addition to exclusive scores often unavailable elsewhere, the shop continually expands its free content offerings. This includes Urtext editions of major standard works for double bass, crafted with the quality and philosophy of leading publishers. Many available double bass scores are heavily altered or expanded, so this shop contributes to a more faithful, modern approach to music editions. Free content also represents immense effort - it can take months or even years of work and substantial production resources, including high-quality video recordings, hall rentals, instrument care, and advanced audio and video technology.
SUPPORT WITHOUT BUYING
You don’t need to purchase to make a difference. Simply engaging on YouTube supports Božo Paradžik’s projects: watching ads without skipping, or clicking them and briefly visiting the promoted pages, directly increases revenue. Every interaction counts, and collectively, they provide meaningful support for future creative projects.
FAIR PRICES POLICY
While Božo Paradžik would like to keep his products even more affordable, the price reflects the considerable effort involved - for example, around four months spent preparing Bottesini’s Concertino (“Concerto No. 2”) - as well as the high costs in Switzerland, where the artist lives, including expenses for the website, server, external technical support, and fees related to his income. In a way, the prices sit “in the middle”: for many buyers worldwide, they may seem high, but for the artist, they are already set at the lowest possible level given local standards and the effort involved. This balance allows him to continue creating high-quality projects while keeping music accessible to everyone.
CD ORDERS
CDs are prepaid and usually shipped within one week. Immediate shipping after payment cannot always be guaranteed; customers are notified in advance if delays occur. Prices include the most affordable standard shipping option, which is uninsured and without tracking. Actual delivery times depend on the postal service. For addresses outside the EU/Switzerland, customs fees may apply and must be paid by the buyer.
QUALITY GUARANTEE & RETURNS
Although online shop from www.bozoparadzik.com does not operate as a conventional retailer, the outstanding quality of all items is fully guaranteed. If any physical item (CDs, printed sheet music, etc.) is defective, a free replacement will be provided.

PDF MUSIC
EDITION
Božo Paradžik primarily publishes in this online shop scores that were created as part of his own artistic projects. As a musician, he focuses mainly on works by major composers for which no double bass editions exist, and he has arranged many of these works for his own performance needs. He also frequently uses a baritone tuning, in which the C or D of the small octave is the highest string - again, for which there is hardly any suitable published material. Over time, this has resulted in a substantial repertoire, now made accessible to other musicians.
URTEXT PHILOSOPHY
Faithful reproduction of the original notated text is the guiding principle of all editions offered in this online shop. This applies equally to works by double bass composers such as Giovanni Bottesini and to works by major composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, or Brahms. The Bottesini editions, gradually released from 2025 onwards, are based rigorously on the original sources and presented as close as possible to the composer’s intent - a level of fidelity rarely achieved in 20th-century double bass editions. Even among works originally composed for other instruments, many are suitable for performance on the double bass. Apart from the adaptation for the instrument and minimal adjustments -primarily in octavation- these editions remain unchanged. Key signatures, dynamic markings, articulations, slurs, and tempo indications are preserved in full and presented in a modern, clearly formatted notation.
SOURCES
Manuscripts by the composers were used as primary references whenever possible. If no manuscripts were available, first print editions served as the basis, especially if they were published during the composers’ lifetimes. In the few cases where instrumentation differs from the historical source, the nature and extent of the changes are usually indicated, with the exception of octavation. Fingerings are generally not included in the printed score.
PAYMENT AND DOWNLOAD
PDF files are available for download immediately after payment is completed. Customers’ financial data are not processed on this website but handled through established external payment providers with long-standing experience and a reputation for high security and reliability. Since December 2023, the range of payment options has been expanded to include a wide variety of methods. All scores are offered as PDF files with a resolution of at least 300 dpi, ensuring excellent print quality.
FREE UPDATES
For selected PDF editions, customers occasionally receive updated versions of previously purchased products. These are usually sent without prior notice to the email address used at the time of purchase. Updates may include planned expansions (e.g., additional parts for alternative tunings), corrections, or other relevant improvements.
PERFORMANCE PRACTICE DETAILS
Notation for the double bass is intentionally limited to bass and treble clefs; the tenor clef is not used. As the double bass parts are intentionally kept clear and uncluttered, many particularly demanding works (e.g., sonatas by major composers) also include a copy of Božo Paradžik’s personal performance part, complete with his handwritten markings, fingerings, and bowings, which can serve as a practical guide for interpretation. Božo Paradžik performs on a modern double bass in fourths tuning. In each score for a specific tuning, the fingerings on the fingerboard are printed in standard notation. This means that the notes in the commonly used scordatura in D (“solo tuning”) sound one whole tone higher, as the strings are tuned accordingly. Scores in scordatura in F or G are transcribed in the same manner, so that the instrument sounds in correct pitch in each case. In some editions, the lowest string is additionally tuned down by a semitone or whole tone. These correspond to the common tunings used in the editions offered in this shop:
GDAE | “in C” – without transposition
AEHF# | transposition “in D”
cGDA | transposition “in F”
dAEH | transposition “in G”
BETA VERSIONS
“Beta” editions are fully usable print versions but may involve minor compromises in formatting; for example, page scaling may occasionally differ slightly from standard proportions. In some cases, multiple pages are arranged to allow practical page turns at musically appropriate moments (e.g., during rests).
The later “final versions” more closely reflect Božo Paradžik’s idea of optimal formatting, which is why beta versions are gradually removed from the catalogue. As these editions were created earlier and required less time and effort, they are offered at a lower price. These more affordable editions are particularly intended to support students, who often work with more limited budgets.
(EU CUSTOMERS ONLY): VAT ON E-SERVICES
Since January 1, 2015, all EU member states levy value-added tax on electronically supplied services at the standard rate of the purchaser’s country. Other countries (outside the EU, UK, and SAR) are generally not affected. As a provider of electronic services, the online shop www.bozoparadzik.com
is legally required to remit VAT from sales of digital products (e.g., PDF scores or downloadable audio files) to EU customers’ country of residence. This process is automated. Physical items (e.g., CDs) are not affected.
MEDIA
MEDIA: CDs
The CD prices in this shop already include the basic shipping cost as a postage without insurance. Shipping that way is usually possible only once a week, so please mind that the CDs will be sent 1-6 days after your purchase. Extra services like fast shipping, insured/registered postage with tracking number, etc. are generally possible- they will result in higher final price, only the real prices of the local postal service will be added. Delivery time depends on postal service, I have no influence on the shipping time and delivery date.
MEDIA: AUDIO AS FILES
Following kind of recordings and file formats will be available by the time in this store:
- Stereo in lossy compression formats (MP3, Vorbis OGG, AAC etc)
- Stereo as high-resolution uncompressed audio (24bit, 48-96 kHz)
- Surround in good sounding lossy compression format (DTS)
- Surround in lossless compression format as high-resolution audio (FLAC)
Compressed stereo formats used here are all open-source projects and licence-free. The popular MP3 data format is since 2017 free of charge.
All surround recordings here are natively recorded in at least 24bit audio depth and in sampling rates from 48kHz to 96kHz.
My multitrack sound recordings were usually done with 8-12 separately recorded channels, 2-4 of those were reserved exclusively for the surround back, so the microphones were placed back in the hall to completely avoid - if possible - use of the digital reverb.
SOUND RECORDING PHYLOSOPHY
Since I am the producer of all sound recordings I was able to adhere to the following aspects of my philosophy:
- The signals of the microphones are recorded without any artificial adjustment using compressors, equalizers, etc. The pure signal from the mics was recorded and wasn't adapted afterwards.
- Dynamic contrasts in my recordings are real, as played during the performance and just adapted once for the final mix and at the cutting points, otherwise the dynamic is generally not manipulated to support the musical content of the score.
- Live recordings are edited from only those takes: the concert itself, the general rehearsal, and a short warm-up rehearsal right before the concert - if there was one. No recording sessions previous to the concert and no correction recordings after the concert have been used for any recording that is labeled as "live" here.
- The surround recordings here use the "center" very slightly, or not at all. The reason for that is the fact that many surround systems boost the middle frequences for the center loudspeaker to improve clearity of the spoken voice, which is designed for watching movies rather than listening to music.
- The surround recordings here contain always LFE channel, but it is dispensable if high quality loudspeakers are used in the surround system. A subwoofer makes sense only if the loudspeakers are small or if the personal taste of the listener requires more bass.
- High-resolution audio is generally available in the resolution of the recording source. Upscaling to a higher sample rate is not used here.
