DEBUSSY | Les Cloches | DOUBLE BASS & PIANO

CLAUDE DEBUSSY  |  Les Cloches (from: "Deux romances" L.79-II), composed ca 1885  |  DOUBLE BASS & PIANO
FILE FORMAT: PDF | 300 dpi  |  6 pages
PARTS INCLUDED: piano score and solo double bass sheet music (in 3 variants)
DOUBLE BASS SCORDATURA: GDAE, or AEBF#, or cGDA (all three included)
SOURCE: second edition (1906) for solo voice and piano | adapted by Božo Paradžik

COMMENT: two versions of this piece were published by the same edition (A. Durand & Fils, Paris) during composer's life. Those two versions are in different keys: 1891 version is in C sharp minor, while 1906 version is one tone lower, in B minor. No information could be found about composer's motivation to do so. I have decided to use the later version, for its darker sound color gives to the piece very different emotional character, which (in your arranger's subjective opinion) fits to the musical content of this song more than the brighter C sharp minor. Double bass score has been very slightly adapted to the different scordaturas, respectively (short before the end of the piece).

total duration: < 3 min
